Each school year high school seniors, who live in a home served by SECO Energy, have the opportunity to win a $2,500 scholarship to further their education.
This year, applications by high school seniors are being accepted between January 10th and March 21st, 2008. The 2008 scholarship winners will be notified by April 25th, 2008. Applications are available at area high school guidance offices and at any of SECO’s customer service centers in Marion, Lake, Citrus and Sumter counties or you may print the online PDF file and use it for your submission. They must be completed and returned to SECO, personally or by mail, no later than March 21, 2008.
Selections are based on past and present achievements in school, community service, financial need and scholastic records. An independent panel of educators from SECO's service territory evaluates all applicants and selects each year's winners.
If you can answer yes to ALL three questions below, you are eligible to apply:
- Do you live in a home served by SECO Energy?
- Are you currently a high school senior?
- Will you be enrolled in an accredited college, university, or vocational/technical school by the end of the calendar year following high school graduation?
