Off Peak
Periods of relatively low demand on the Company’s electric system.

Ohm
The amount of resistance overcome by one volt in causing one ampere to flow. The ohm measures resistance to current flow in electrical circuits.

Open Access
A regulatory mandate to allow others to use a utility's transmission and distribution facilities to move bulk power from one point to another on a nondiscriminatory basis for a cost-based fee.

Operable Nuclear Unit
A nuclear unit is "operable" after it completes low-power testing and is granted authorization to operate at full power. This occurs when it receives its full power amendment to its operating license from the Nuclear Regulatory Commission.

Order 888
The FERC order that adopted rules requiring utilities to provide nondiscriminatory transmission services in order to provide effective competition in the wholesale electricity market.

Outage
Interruption of service to an electric consumer becaus3 a power plant, transmission line or other facility is not operating.
