Information on interconnection of a generating system to SECO Energy

Notice: For information on solar energy go to: Florida Solar Energy Center

When connecting a generator into the power grid, three main issues must be addressed: safety, reliability and economics. The member must perform his/her own economic analysis taking into consideration the cost of the generator, fuel cost, rebates, tax incentives and reduction of their electricity bill due to their own generation system. Sumter Electric Cooperative, aka SECO Energy, has developed interconnection guidelines to insure the safety of its employees and to insure that any member generation does not adversely impact the reliability of the power grid.

Small Photovoltaic Systems:
Members may install a small photovoltaic system and sell back electricity to SECO. The following documents will help you understand the requirements for installing this system, the interconnection requirements, and the legal contract that will need to be executed by both parties.
